Pie, Mash & Eel House is still trading in Walworth being owned and run by
third generation Arment’s Roy & Cheryl.
We pride ourselves on making all our produce fresh on site each day using the original and secret recipes handed down through the generations. Our steak and steak & kidney pies contain 100% pure beef and are still traditionally made by hand. Having an open plan shop and bakehouse allows our customers to witness this age old ritual being carried out. Freshly cooked potatoes are mashed, and eels stewed or jellied in their juices, are prepared daily, together with the famous green liquer. A more recent addition to our menu was the re-introduction of our fruit pies to celebrate our 80th anniversary in October 1994. The fruits used in these vary on a daily basis, and include apple, cherry, rhubarb and apricot. Despite the plethora of world foods available today, Arment’s Pie, Mash & Eels, one of London’s original fast food/takeaways, remains true to it’s origins and has not diluted it’s menu with the inevitable ‘something with chips’! In addition to the sit down and takeaway at our restaurant, we also fulfil orders for events such as cockney nights, parties, weddings, St Georges Day and Guy Fawkes celebrations, along with various other gatherings. |
