Arments Pie and Mash…
…is not really that different from 100 years ago when it opened it’s doors in 1914 and became a staple of the Southwark community and the best pie and mash in London.
Pies are a classic English food at the heart of our traditional cuisine and way of life, and Arments remain true to that tradition and values.
The History of the shop is evident as soon as you walk in the door. The long booths and simple decor allow you to feel what it was like generations ago. Traditional English Pies at our shop have given comfort during many times of happiness, and of crisis. Having a wholesome meal for fast food is almost a lost art, and we are happy to still be providing an inexpensive homemade meal of pie and mash for young and old.
If you visit Arments, you will see for yourself that it is not just a family run business; the family extends to the staff and our customers who share our history.
We are proud to have won Awards like the 5 star hygiene rating which proves the high standard that we set for ourselves and for our customers.
Our Centenary celebration and our Blue plaque award really demonstrated how important the community of Southwark is to us, and how our place in the history of traditional pie and mash in London is set for generations to come.
We are a traditional pie and mash shop and we know that it’s in the making of our pies that makes them so great.
Arments Now – Authentic London Pie and Mash
Serving the best London pie and mash, Arments Pie & Eel house is still trading in Walworth, being owned and run by third generation Arments Roy and Cheryl. Watching many trends and fads come and go, Arments Pie and Eel House retains its tradition whilst moving with the times and public demand.
With over 100 years experience, we pride ourselves on maintaining the standards set by generations before us on making all our produce fresh on site each day, using only the best ingredients made to the original and secret recipes, handed down through the last century.
London Pie and Mash Quality
Our Steak and Steak & Kidney pies contain 100% pure beef steak, without preservatives, fillers or packers that are so commonly found in inferior pies today. Our pies are still traditionally made by hand, giving them their distinctive, unique appearance and flavour – the exact ingredients and method is still a closely guarded secret. Having an open plan shop and bakehouse allows our customers to witness this age old ritual being carried out. Due to popular demand to have our Steak pies at parties, events and buffets as finger food, we introduced a mini version of our Steak Pie in 2010. It is made with the same ingredients and in the same way as our original pie and is proving to be highly successful!
London Pie and Mash Anywhere in the UK!
In addition to our sit down and takeaway service at our restaurant, fulfilling orders for events such as St Georges Day, Cockney Nights, Weddings, Parties and Bonfire celebrations, we have seen a geographical change in our customer base and are now serving the public far and wide. To accommodate this modern trend and so as not to disappoint our customers, we have introduced a Postal Pie Service. Is there someone you know who would love to receive ‘A Pie in a Box’?!
Arments are a traditional pie and mash shop that has stood the test of time.
For over a 100 years Arments customers have been queuing out of the door to taste the best steak pie and mash, jellied eels, and stewed eels.
Our menu and our prices have altered as little as possible over the years, keeping our customers coming back for one of the best hot meals you can get to eat in or takeaway. Pie, Mash and Liquor, being one of the earliest fast food dinners (older than the first recorded fish and chip shop), is a healthier option to many of the alternative fast foods available today.
